How to make a meme here

  1. Pick the picture. Drop a file on the board, paste one with Ctrl+V, choose a file, or start on one of seven blank colours in a square, wide or tall shape.
  2. Type your lines. Top and bottom boxes are ready; add up to four more for labels or a punchline in the middle.
  3. Put the words where they land best. Drag them on the picture, or select a box and use the arrow buttons. Text never slides off the edge.
  4. Save it. Download a PNG or JPEG at the picture's own size, or copy it and paste it straight into a chat.

Making it readable

The black outline is what makes white letters readable on any picture. Around 10 to 15 percent of the letter size is the classic weight; busy photos take more. League Gothic is a free, tall, condensed font in the spirit of the classic meme look, so long lines still fit.

Short wins: if a line wraps three times, it is probably two memes. Long text shrinks so it never covers more than half the picture. PNG keeps text crisp; JPEG makes smaller photo files.

Questions

Is it really free, with no watermark?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no paid tier. You save exactly what you see, at your picture's own size.

Are my pictures uploaded anywhere?

No. Your browser opens the picture and draws the meme on this page. Nothing is sent to a server, and once the page has loaded it keeps working without a connection.

Can I use any picture I find online?

Whoever took or made a picture usually owns its copyright, and adding a caption doesn't change that. Your own photos and drawings are the safest choice, then pictures whose licence allows reuse; rules on parody differ by country. That is why this site offers blank backgrounds instead of other people's images.

Why isn't Impact one of the fonts?

Impact is a commercial font, so a website can't bundle it. League Gothic is a free, open-licence condensed font with a similar punchy look, and it works the same on every device.

How do I move the text on a phone?

Drag it with your finger on the picture. For exact moves, tap its text box and use the arrow buttons under Move text.
